Meredith Conroy

Meredith still remembers her first time in a hot yoga studio and it was love at first sweat! Although she found yoga later in life, her background as a gymnast and University of Florida cheerleader prepared her for the physical challenges of hot yoga. Early into her time in the hot room Meredith knew she had found her passion and was quickly discovering her desire to teach and share with students the amazing benefits of hot yoga.
 

Those thoughts quickly turned to action as she took a leave of absence from her corporate job to travel to Brazil for a five-week intensive training in the Moksha Yoga practice. Upon her return to Kentucky she began teaching part-time developing her skills until she exited the nine-to-five world to do the work she truly loved – teaching yoga!

 

Meredith earned a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the University of Louisville and this aspect of her background influences her teaching style and how she leads class. She knows that many students begin hot yoga for the physical results and stress relief, but a good class provides the opportunity to go deeper. Her goal is to support students who are ready and willing to shift out of an everyday state of mind and into one that enables internal exploration, learning and growth.

 

Her teaching style is relaxed and joyful and her goal is to tailor each class to the individual and ensure every student leaves her class feeling better than they did when they came! Meredith’s clients have ranged from students with no yoga, or even much exercise experience, to professional athletes. Her philosophy is that yoga should be accessible to all levels of ability, from beginners to advanced practitioners and it is her intention to meet all students’ levels of ability in each and every class.

 

Meredith loves being a student and has a goal to do at least one training every year. Don’t be surprised if you see her on the mat, maybe even next to you! Every class is a chance to see the same poses from a different perspective and to continue to evolve her practice and instruction.

 

Along with being a partner at Bend and Zen, Meredith teaches our Yoga Core, Power Vinyasa, Hot Fusion, Bikram, Bikram Flow, and Yang/Yin classes.



Meredith Conroy instructs the following:
  • Yoga Core
  • A fun and challenging class that combines a powerful flow with core strengthening. You will move and feel from the center of your body learning to engage the core more deeply and intentionally in all postures. A rigorous class with time spent holding poses while building strength, focus, self awareness and confidence. All levels welcome!

  • Yang/Yin
  • Yin Yoga is a complementary yoga practice to the more dynamic and invigorating yang yoga and you will get it all in this class! The first section is a challenging Power Vinyasa flow followed by an extended floor series to fully relax your body. This class offers the perfect combination of the passive and the powerful aspects of yoga. You'll feel amazing after this one!

  • Hot Fusion
  • This set class format combines the poses found in traditional Bikram with our Power Vinyasa class. You will quickly see progress in stamina, as this class offers the perfect balance between all the things you love about both Bikram and Vinyasa!

  • Power Vinyasa
  • This dynamic and energizing practice integrates a flowing series of postures to create internal heat as you increase strength, flexibility, balance and endurance. Our Power Vinyasa will take you through a vigorous and detoxifying sequence emphasizing conscious breath and fluid movement to strengthen the body and calm the mind. Open to all levels but best for those comfortable with the basic yoga postures and those looking for a healthy sweat.

  • Bikram
  • Practiced in the tradition of Bikram Choudhury, the traditional 26 postures are taught with a more laid back approach. Temperatures will exceed 100F with high humidity, so come to class well hydrated and ready to sweat. All levels welcome!

  • Yoga Core
  • A fun and challenging class that combines a powerful flow with core strengthening. You will move and feel from the center of your body learning to engage the core more deeply and intentionally in all postures.   • Power Vinyasa

  • A slower, more intentional progression of postures linked together with breath for an intense, yet relaxing physical practice. This class is great for beginners to gain familiarity with Vinyasa classes, but also a solid workout for experienced practitioners. All Level Flow brings the entire body and mind into balance and is appropriate for all levels and a great place to begin and deepen your Vinyasa practice.

  • Yoga Core
  • A fun and challenging class that combines a powerful flow with core strengthening.
