What is Hot Yoga and What Can I Expect?

 

Hot yoga is yoga taught in a heated room. It's as simple as that! The temperature stays fairly consistent between 98-100 degrees with varying levels of humidity (it is Kentucky after all). Don’t be intimidated! You've got this!

 

We will guide and encourage you, but you are your best teacher. Meet yourself where you're at and stay open to the limitless possibilities.

 

As with any new journey preparation is key. Great info and tips below!

Please Arrive to Class Early

We recommend you arrive around 15 minutes early for your first class so you can fill out an information/liability form, familiarize yourself with the studio and get situated.

 

Know Which Class You're Taking

BZHY is primarily a vinyasa studio. We incorporate fusion classes throughout the week and offer one Hot 26 & HIIT class per week. Visit the Yoga Class Descriptions page for the details and check out each teachers' signature style.

Bring a Mat, Yoga Towel & Water Bottle

Please bring all you need for class - yoga mat, towels (large for on top of your mat and small to wipe your sweat), and water bottle. Forget something? We've got your back! All items are available to purchase, rent, or borrow.

What You Wear Matters

You don’t need expensive outfits to be a yogi, but we do suggest form-fitting & sweat wicking clothes that won’t interfere with your practice. Loose, cotton options are NOT your friend in hot yoga.

 

What to Eat and Drink Prior to Coming to Class

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! The day before, the day of, and during class. This is key to having a positive hot yoga experience. Try NOT to eat a large meal prior to class. DO have a small snack 2 to 3 hours before class begins.

 

Listen to Your Body

Your body, mindset, & energy level will shift every class. At BZHY you are fully supported in meeting yourself where you're at: We suggest, you decide.

 

Yoga is all about balance. Balance between strength and flexibility, breath and movement, ease and effort. Your yoga journey is just beginning. Be patient and tune in.
