Chelsey Owen

Instructor, RYT 200 hr

Chelsey discovered yoga as a healing practice for the body and mind in 2013 while living in Africa. The connection of breath and movement was life changing. Since then, time on her yoga mat has been an essential component of her life. She received her RYT 200-hr certification early in 2018 and considers it a joy and an honor to share what she loves with others. Chelsey believes in grace and laughter and slowing down to the speed of listening.

When not on her mat, you will find her dancing, since she is a full-time professional Salsa/Bachata dancer,
instructor and choreographer.

Top three things I love about teaching yoga:

- Getting to be one of the best part of peoples’ day.
- Seeing the physical progression in students, but more so, witnessing the person who never stays in savasana meditation finally lay in stillness the entire time!

Yoga teaching philosophy:
- Yoga should be accessible for all, even yoga in 100 degrees! My job is to create the space for students to meet themselves where they’re at every time they step onto their mats.

Lee Schardein

Instructor - RYT-500 hr, E-RYT-200 hr
Signature Style:
- Coming soon!
Top three things I love about teaching yoga:
- I love seeing students progress in their practice - gaining strength, confidence and mobility. The look on a student’s face when they land a pose for the first time! It fills me with such joy!
- I love to sequence. I used to dance and choreograph, and now sequencing has become my creative outlet. I especially love creating flows that feel good in the body.
- When students tell me when my classes give them physical, mental or emotional benefits. I love hearing have that yoga has improved their sleep, made their back feel better or got them out of their heads after a stressful day!
Yoga teaching philosophy:
- Yoga is for everyone and every body. Yoga integrates mind, body and soul. It is a practice that can be done throughout one’s life, and therefore should be sustainable. Both movement and relaxation are healing components of the yoga practice. I love to create flows that get students out of their heads and into their bodies and hearts. I offer modifications and use props to make the practice more accessible for all. Lastly, yoga should be fun!
When I'm not teaching yoga...
- I love to travel and be outdoors. From the desert, to the mountains and the beach, I love to explore and visit new places and experience new cultures. You can catch me hiking, swimming, dancing and roller blading all over the U.S. and in other countries. I enjoy taking yoga classes wherever I travel, meet other yoga teachers, get inspired and take what I have learned back to my classes in Louisville!
Favorite yoga pose:
- I love headstand and practice it daily. I find it meditative and balancing for my whole body. I also love to do core work from headstand.

Yoga Teaching Philosophy: Whatever you put out, you will get back tenfold so the more we work towards a life centered around well-being, a life of well-being will manifest.

When I’m not teaching yoga… I am either outside in nature, dancing, taking photos, making art, cooking, or studying astrology.

- Diverse fitness background adds depth to yoga instruction
- Challenging and creative sequences to always keep you on your toes!

Top three things I love about teaching yoga:

- It’s so rewarding to have those moments where I help a client conquer a balance or pose they’ve been working on. Seeing that “lightbulb” moment is pretty amazing.
- Enjoying the journey!
Yoga teaching philosophy:
- Meet people where they are. Not every pose is for every person. Your body doesn’t feel the same every day. Yoga is a journey not a destination. Find where you are today and honor it.
When I'm not teaching yoga...
- I take care of my two kiddos and have a full-time job.
Favorite yoga pose:
- I find this evolves over time. Right now it’s Half Moon (Ardha Chandrasana). Equal parts balance, strength and stretch. It feels really good to me.

- My babies. And coffee. The two are intrinsically linked.
One thing on my bucket list:
